The Pool of Narcissus: “A fine art photograph highlighting the dark side of humanity”.
(Edits completed using PicsArt)

I have heard it said that a picture is worth a thousand words. As a photographer and a creative writer, I see the truth in this adage. Each photograph holds a story all its own, and these stories possess characters (focal points of the image) and genres: a fine art portrait highlighting the dark side of humanity, a wildlife photograph depicting a swift hummingbird, and a nighttime picture displaying a colorful firework. By portraying these subjects (both alive and inanimate), photographers can create an array of stories. Yet, as I have discovered with writing, no story is complete without a setting.

To be clear, you do not have to travel far to capture the image you are searching for. All the pictures displayed here were ones I captured at home, yet discovering new locations for myself has opened a door of possibilities for me. I now have an arsenal of sites to choose from when considering what kind of photograph I am looking for. Do I need a wildlife photograph? I know the place for that! Am I searching for the perfect flora picture? I have discovered a place for that too!

So, for any photographers in the St. Louis area, let me introduce you to some of these locations. Together, we can discover places we never knew of, and hopefully we can find some great photo spots.
